30 Netflix Series You Need To Watch

To think I actually thought I watched a lot of TV until lockdown struck.. HA! I really had no idea! I dread to imagine the number of hours I’ve spent square-eyed in front of my laptop or TV or even worse, how long it’s taken me to find something I want to watch! Does anyone else struggle with that? I’ve got tonnes of series and films on my list but I just have to be in the mood yanno? So anyway, since I’ve spent a quarter of the last year watching TV, I thought I’d recommend you some of my favourite Netflix series that I’ve come across.

Now I will pop a little disclaimer in here to say I’m fully aware that there’s a lot of series I haven’t watched yet. Stranger Things, Black Mirror and Breaking Bad tend to be the one’s I’m judged most for having not seen yet but I will get around to them eventually. These are some of the ones I have seen, however, and really recommend/would definitely watch again!

FEATURED: B&M SLIPPERS (SIMILAR), WAYFAIR TV CABINER

1. Sex Education – Taboo subjects, lovable characters and Gillian Anderson. That’s all you need to know.

2. You – This probably wins the award for the Netflix series I binged the quickest. The cliffhangers were just too much and even though Joe absolutely terrifies me, I was obsessed (but not as obsessed as he is, lol). I’m so excited for season three.

3. The Circle USA – I really love the UK’s version of The Circle so of course, I had to give the American version a watch and I love it just as much! It’s sort of like a social experiment cross reality show based on social media where players get to be anyone they want and their aim is to become the most popular in The Circle.

4. The Sinner – I finished watching this today and must say I enjoyed the first series much more than the others but nonetheless, it’s still one to add to your list.

5. Ru Paul’s Drag Race – I was extremely late to the party with this one but it’s so easy to watch and I have so many seasons to catch up on, I’m just loving my life. Side note, you should also watch AJ and the Queen.

6. Unabomber – Why have I never heard anyone talk about this?! It’s based on a true story involving a terrorist and forensic linguistics and is so so interesting!

7. After Life – It’ll make you laugh hysterically and then cry the next moment. Such a beautiful creation by Ricky Gervais.

8. Outnumbered – No matter how old Outnumbered gets, it’s always guaranteed to put a smile on my face. Young Karen is just too much.

9. The Stranger – I appreciate most people had their fix of The Stranger last year when it shot to fame on its release but just in case you haven’t seen it, add that shit to your list right now.

10. Safe – If you liked The Stranger, you’ll need to give this one a watch as well.

11. White Lines – Another one which absolutely everyone watched in 2020. I didn’t think this would be my kinda thing with all the drugs and stuff but the cliffhangers and murder plot made me really enjoy it (now I sound like a psycho lol).

12. Dead to Me – The plot behind this is a little bit fucked up but it’s a comedy soooo yeah. Great to binge and now I’m thinking about it, I might rewatch it next weekend!

13. The Queen’s Gambit – If you’d have told me a year ago that I’d be binge watching a TV programme about chess, I wouldn’t have believed you but here we are and it’s one of the best Netflix series I’ve watched recently!

14. Bridgerton – I’m sure everyone and their mum has watched this now but it’s just one you need to watch! Think Gossip Girl cross Downton Abbey.

15. Derry Girls – What a banger. Can’t believe I didn’t watch this sooner! It’s almost like a female version of The Inbetweeners except it’s set in Northern Ireland in the 90s and stars the one and only Nicola Coughlan.

16. Misfits – Misfits is such an iconic Channel 4 series for 20-somethings and still makes me laugh to this day. You’ll need a sense of humour to watch it but it’s bloody brilliant. It’s basically about a group of young offenders who develop superpowers and end up dealing with loads of random shit.

17. The End of the Fucking World – This series is hard to describe but it’s just something you need to watch. Helpful, right? And OMG I’ve only just discovered there’s a second season which I haven’t watched!

18. Spinning Out – I totally forgot this even existed until it popped up on Netflix. It’s got Kaya Scodelario (Effy from Skins as she’s always known bless her) and if you’re not already sold by that, it brings a lot of important issues such as mental illnesses to light.

19. Below Deck – The best reality TV show ever. Yachties, sex, arguments, crazy money, just everything you want in a programme like this. Also, Ben is a legend.

20. Prison Break – I still don’t understand how people haven’t watched ~ at least ~ the first season of Prison Break. If I could I could wipe my memory just to watch it again without knowing what was to come, I would.

21. Selling Sunset – Multi, multi, MULTI-million dollar properties in LA and a shit load of drama. That’s it basically but it’s so addictive.

22. Down to Earth – Zac Efron and sustainability. Need I say anymore?

23. The Duchess – Short, snappy and a one-night binger.

24. Emily in Paris – I know some people are a bit savage about Emily as a person but I quite enjoyed this series. It’s the sort of programme you can just leave on in the background and not have to pay too much attention to.

25. Gossip Girl – Although watching Gossip Girl can seem like it’s taking forever, it’s just one of those series you HAVE to watch. I’ve rewatched it many times and never get bored of it (well, apart from Dan and Jenny).

26. Back to Life – Another quick binger and BBC classic.

27. The Fall – Oooooh everyone went crazy for this when it came out and I was late to the party once again. I wasn’t massively keen on the third season but Gillian Anderson (wow second mention) made up for it.

28. Friday Night Dinner – A typical Channel 4 sitcom and I love it. Shalom Jackie!

29. Orange Is The New Black – The last few seasons of this weren’t my favourite but it’s just one of those series you need to watch.

30. Orphan Black –  I’ve arguably saved the best til last here. Why are there so many people who haven’t even heard of Orphan Black? Tatiana Maslany is an absolute queen and so unbelievably talented. Incredible characters, intriguing storyline and so underrated.

Next on my list: How To Get Away With Murder, The Office, The Crown and The Durrells (because my mum hasn’t stopped banging on about it for the last four years).

What are your favourite Netflix series to binge and what do you think about the ones I’ve suggested?
