Going out can be priceyyyyyyy let me tell you. You’ve got drinks, dinner and that late night kebab (or at least in my case anyway!) to pay for and if you’re going out out, you’ll have entrance fees, taxis and maybe even outfits to cough up for as well. Now I haven’t got A) the energy or B) the money for nights out these days. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a pub girl at heart (definitely not a going out out kinda girl) but more recently, I’m all about the nights in (especially since lockdown and social distancing).
If you’re anything like me and want to ditch the heels (or in my case, Converse) and hangovers for pyjamas and popcorn then here are seven ideas for nights in with your friends.
Picture this.. Mean Girls. Popcorn. Pyjamas. Sounds like a noughties teenager’s dream! We’re all partial to a chick flick now and then aren’t we?
We are the generation who have grown up with Harry Potter so you really can’t go wrong with a good old binge (particular around Christmas time). Buy some pizzas or treat yourself to a Dominos and make a start on The Philosopher’s Stone. And the great thing is, you could make it a weekly tradition to watch every Sunday or whenever you’re free!
Who doesn’t love a games night? Delve into your games cupboard (everyone has one right?) and pull out your funniest games. I’m talking On Your Marks (our favourite), Twister, Cards Against Humanity and Trivial Pursuit. You’re bound to have an evening full of laughter and maybe a few competitive rows!
One of our all time favourite things to do with our friends is host pizza nights. It doesn’t have to be expensive, just pick up some pizza dough (or readymade bases), passata, mozzarella and a load of toppings and you’re basically done!
It would be rude not to have a Halloween themed evening around this time of year, wouldn’t it? 🤷♀️ So grab a couple of friends, some pumpkins and a scary film and you’re good to go. You could all chip in a fiver and throw your own pumpkin carving competition if you wanted to spice things up a bit!
Grab some face masks, nail varnish, body lotion, eye masks, hair masks and your trusty dressing gown then whack on a film of your choice and your pamper night is good to go. We all need a good pamper every now and then (no matter whether it’s in the name of selfcare or just because we fancy it) and having a girls night in makes a good excuse for it!
A Christmas film night is an absolute must in December. Hit the shops, grab some cheap canape platters (because who doesn’t love duck spring rolls, mini beef Yorkshire puddings and pigs in blankets), make some mulled wine, whip on your cosiest PJs, light some festive candles and choose your favourite Christmas films – mine will always be Elf, Arthur Christmas and Nativity! With all the hustle and bustle going on in December, you and your friends will appreciate a night to switch off and enjoy all things cosy! You could even throw in Secret Santa to make things even more festive!
