I live in Kent.
The rural, Wealden part of Kent.
The part of Kent where there isn’t masses to do unless you like long walks or pubs (I only favour the latter). However, something which there is an abundance of is cafes and if you know me, I love my food! So off I popped a few weeks ago with my friend, Isla, to The Walled Nursery in Hawkhurst for a spot of brunch and a wander around the gardening centre.

For a Bank Holiday Monday, it wasn’t too busy but I imagine in the height of summer, it could be a bit of a mission to nab a table. But you can see why right? It’s such a cool space to eat in and ever so Instagrammable if that’s what floats your boat. I can’t say the food is out of this world because we both had a pretty bog standard bacon sandwich but it was reasonably priced and came out pretty quickly which is exactly what you need if you get hangry like me. Saying that, I’d be curious to try out their lunch menu as my mum says it’s delicious!
My favourite thing about The Walled Nursery has to be the nursery itself and to be honest, I never had myself pegged as the kinda gal to enjoy walking around a load of plants but there’s something so therapeutic about it. Also now that I’m a home owner and have a garden of my own, I really had to restrain myself from spending all my money on plants because I’m that much of an adult now. They’ve got enough succulents to make a blogger cry and the selection of house plants in a solid 10/10. BUT unfortunately I’m not at that stage of my life yet where I can justify spending £30 on a cheese plant that I’m more than likely going to kill.
They’ve also got a little gift shop full of plant pots, cards, books, candles, soaps and some other bits and bobs for you to mooch around which is really sweet although as you can imagine, it’s all pretty pricey.
So yeah, this is a bit of a pointless blog post just to say if you’re ever passing through Hawkhurst or live locally to Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone or Tenterden then it’s worth popping into The Walled Nursery for a wander around.
Have you ever been to The Walled Nursery?
